Securing Your BitLease Account
Securing Your BitLease Account
Your BitLease account holds financial assets and active ownership contracts. Security is not optional—it is structural. This guide provides clear guidelines to protect your account, recognize threats, and respond to security incidents.
These practices apply to all users, regardless of account size or activity level.
Understanding Account Security Structure
BitLease operates on an institutional-grade security architecture that combines multiple layers of protection, including encryption, custody systems, monitoring, and compliance controls. However, your responsibility lies in securing your login credentials and recognizing potential threats.
Security Operates in Layers
Platform Security (BitLease’s Responsibility)
Multi-signature custody.
Encrypted data storage.
Regulatory compliance.
Transaction monitoring.
Account Security (Your Responsibility)
Strong passwords.
Two-factor authentication (2FA).
Device security.
Recognizing phishing attempts.
Behavioral Security (Shared Responsibility)
Secure practices.
Prompt reporting of suspicious activity.
Understanding official platform communications.
All three layers must function correctly to protect your assets.
What to Do If Your Account Is Compromised
Signs of Compromise
Direct Indicators:
Cannot log in (password changed without your action).
Email address changed.
Unauthorized transactions in the account history.
Active contracts you did not create.
Withdrawals you did not initiate.
Indirect Indicators:
Suspicious login activity.
Account settings changed.
Unexpected emails about account changes.
Security alerts you did not trigger.
Immediate Response Protocol
If you believe your account is compromised, act quickly to limit potential damage.
Step 1: Attempt Password Reset
If you still have access to your registered email:
Go to the password reset page.
Request a reset code.
Create a new, strong password immediately.
Log in with the new password.
Step 2: Contact Support Immediately
Email: support@bitlease.com
Subject: "URGENT - Account Compromise"
Include:
Your registered email address.
Date/time you noticed the compromise.
What changed (password, email, transactions, etc.).
Any suspicious activity you observed.
Step 3: Secure Your Email Account
If your BitLease account is compromised, assume your email may be as well:
Change your email password.
Enable 2FA on your email account.
Review email account activity for unauthorized access.
Step 4: Document Everything
Take screenshots of:
Unauthorized transactions.
Changed settings.
Suspicious login activity.
Any communications from attackers.
This documentation helps support investigate and may be needed for recovery processes.
Step 5: Monitor Financial Impact
Review:
All wallet balances.
Active LTO contracts.
Recent withdrawal addresses.
Pending transactions.
Document any unauthorized activity for support.
Communication Security
Official BitLease Communication Channels
Legitimate Channels:
Emails from the @bitlease.com domain only.
In-platform support system.
Official website: https://bitlease.com.
Verified social media accounts (check the website for links).
Never Legitimate:
WhatsApp messages claiming to be BitLease.
Telegram messages from "BitLease support."
Discord DMs offering help.
Twitter/X DMs asking for account details.
What BitLease Will and Won’t Ask For
BitLease Support WILL:
Ask you to verify your registered email address.
Request a description of your issue.
Ask for transaction IDs for specific problems.
Guide you to reset your password through the official process.
Request screenshots of error messages (never showing credentials).
BitLease Support WILL NEVER:
Ask for your password.
Request your 2FA codes.
Ask for private keys or seed phrases.
Request remote access to your device.
Ask you to send cryptocurrency to "verify" your account.
Demand payment to resolve issues or unlock features.
If someone asks for these, you are speaking to a scammer, regardless of how official they appear.
Behavioral Security Practices
Verify Before Acting
Pause on Urgency
Scammers create urgency to bypass your judgment. If a message demands immediate action:
Stop.
Close the message.
Go directly to bitlease.com through your bookmark.
Check your account status there.
Contact support through official channels if needed.
Real security issues will appear in your account when you log in directly. They do not only appear in emails or messages.
Use Official Channels
Always initiate contact with BitLease through official channels:
For Support:
Log in to your account.
Navigate to Settings > Support.
Submit a ticket there.
OR
Email: support@bitlease.com directly (not through links in suspicious messages).
Never:
Click email links claiming to be urgent security alerts.
Call phone numbers provided in unsolicited messages.
DM social media accounts claiming to be support.
Verify Communications
If you receive a suspicious communication claiming to be from BitLease:
Verification Steps:
Do not click any links in the message.
Log in to BitLease directly through your bookmark.
Check for notifications in your account.
If the communication claimed there was an issue, look for confirmation in your account.
Contact support through official channels to verify.
Example:
Email says: "Your withdrawal is pending approval - click here to confirm."
Verification Process:
Ignore the email link.
Log in to BitLease directly.
Check your transaction history.
If no pending withdrawal exists, the email was phishing.
Separate Email for Financial Accounts
Consider using a dedicated email address only for financial accounts, including BitLease. This email:
Is not shared on social media.
Is not used for shopping or newsletters.
Is not linked to loyalty programs.
Receives only official financial communications.
This isolation makes phishing attempts more obvious. If your financial-only email receives a message about shopping or social media, you know it is fraudulent.
